During 2016/17, before I got elected to Council, I led a successful high profile community campaign to get our Council to commit to keeping Maylands Waterland in Maylands and refurbish the existing pools.
On Council, I continued to push Council to provide a firm commitment to refurbish the site, as a water-based facility for young kids. When Council decided to re-build, I was successful in advocating for one shallow pool to be included in Stage 1 of the project, alongside the water splash pad.
